OUR MISSION

Talent is everywhere.
Opportunity isn’t.

BRIGHT exists to make sure a student’s chances of succeeding are not determined by whether they happen to know the right person, have the right professional network or can absorb an unexpected financial shock.

We build structured mentoring relationships between students and people willing to share their experience — complemented, when necessary, by targeted financial support.

Students don’t always need another programme.
Sometimes they need a person.
THE CHALLENGE

The problem is not only financial.

24.8% of 15–34-year-olds living in Luxembourg have interrupted or abandoned at least one education or training programme. EU average: 14.2%

Luxembourg invests heavily in higher education support. Yet many students still face barriers that money alone cannot remove: isolation, uncertainty, unequal access to professional networks, difficult transitions and the absence of someone who knows their situation personally.

That is the gap BRIGHT is designed to address.

Money can remove an obstacle. A mentor can change a trajectory.
WHAT BRIGHT DOES

Two forms of support.
One mission.

OUR CORE ACTIVITY

Structured one-to-one mentoring

Every student accompanied by BRIGHT benefits from a mentoring relationship. Mentors listen, share experience, help students navigate choices and provide access to a professional world that can otherwise feel difficult to reach.

  • Confidence and motivation
  • Academic and professional guidance
  • Access to experience and professional networks
  • A trusted person who follows the journey over time
WHEN NECESSARY

Targeted financial support

For a smaller number of students, a concrete financial difficulty can put years of study at risk. In those situations, BRIGHT may provide targeted support so that the student can remain in education.

Financial support is not the default. It is used when a material obstacle would otherwise prevent mentoring and studies from having a chance to succeed.

6 out of 7

students we accompanied received mentoring without financial support.

For most BRIGHT students, the missing resource is not money. It is guidance, experience, confidence and access to a professional network.

WHY MENTORING?

Because not everyone has someone to ask.

Guidance

A mentor helps a student understand choices that can otherwise feel opaque or overwhelming.

Experience

A mentor can share lessons that are rarely written in a handbook: what a profession is really like, what matters and what to expect.

Access

Professional networks should not depend on the family or social environment a student happens to come from.

BRIGHT turns professional experience into opportunity for someone else.
OUR METHOD

More than a match.

Good intentions are not enough. BRIGHT has developed a structured mentoring framework designed to create relationships that last.

01

Recruit

We identify people who genuinely want to share their experience and accompany a student.

02

Prepare

Mentors receive training, clear expectations and a defined framework for their role.

03

Match

We create pairs based on needs, experience, availability and compatibility rather than simply assigning the next available person.

04

Follow

BRIGHT stays involved, follows the relationship and remains available if the pair needs support.

OUR RESULTS SO FAR

What we have observed.

These figures describe the students accompanied by BRIGHT. They are not presented as proof that mentoring alone caused the outcomes.

ONE MISSION · DIFFERENT PATHWAYS

BRIGHT is not only about nursing.

Our mission is broader: we want students across higher education to have access to human guidance, experience and professional networks. Healthcare is currently our largest area of activity, but it is one pathway within the wider BRIGHT model.

🎓 UNIVERSITY MENTORING

Opening professional networks

Students from different academic backgrounds can benefit from a mentor who helps them understand a profession, prepare for the transition into working life and access a network they may not otherwise have.

🩺 TWIN A NURSE

Supporting the next generation of nurses

Nursing students face demanding placements, irregular schedules and emotional situations that are difficult to navigate alone. A practising nurse understands these realities in a way few others can.

WHY HEALTHCARE MATTERS

Today, our mission is especially visible in healthcare.

Around 95% of the students currently accompanied by BRIGHT are studying for healthcare professions. This focus reflects a real need: nursing students face particularly demanding training pathways, while Luxembourg must recruit thousands of additional healthcare professionals over the coming decade.

OUR MISSION

What BRIGHT is here to do.

BRIGHT works to ensure that a student’s ability to continue and succeed in higher education is not determined by their financial circumstances, their personal network or whether they happen to know the right person.

We create structured mentoring relationships between students and people willing to share their experience — complemented, where necessary, by targeted financial support.

Everyone has experience worth sharing.

For someone else, it could make all the difference.
